It's Already Time!: Injection Day 9

When I first scheduled the trip out here for the egg retrieval with the nurse, she told me that my retrieval date could be between Days 10-12 or as late as Day 14 if I didn't stimulate well.

I had another monitoring visit yesterday and received the call and instead of giving me my dosage amount for the evening, the nurse went ahead and told me at exactly 7:30pm, she wanted me to take my Ovidrel shot - the shot that will trigger the release of my eggs in 34-36 hours exactly. She told me I didn't have to take any of the other shots, and didn't need to come in to the clinic this morning. Just show up at 7am for the retrieval in 2 days. So my retrieval will be on Day 11.

Of all the injections, this Ovidrel shot is the most important and responsible for the success of the egg retrieval. My Case Manager shared a story of one egg donor who went out with some friends and forgot to bring the shot with her. She came back home hours after her appointed time and took the injection. Two days later, she went into surgery for the retrieval, woke up from the procedure, and received an inquiry from the doctor as to whether she followed her instructions correctly. She tried to cover it up by saying she followed the instructions, but the doctor explained she couldn't have because there were no eggs to retrieve! It was a failed donation cycle. So, I don't suspect she received her compensation, and would be lucky if the couple didn't pursue any legal action for their financial loss. How can some people be so wreckless?!

Needless to say, I put an alarm on my cellphone to tell me when to take the trigger injection on time. I actually took my injection in my seat in the middle of watching Wall-E in the movie theater last night! (It is also an injection that goes into my tummy).

Today's Symptoms: I feel a little bloated and bending over/stretching or any physical activity makes me really feel the ovaries like they're swollen. No cramping, just feels like I've worked out a muscle I've never felt before. My breasts are very sensitive now and almost hurts for anything to touch the nipples, including my own bra. I think I need to put band-aids on them.
